Tree Planting Brings Shade and Habitat to Somers Beach State Park

This September, more than 20 volunteers joined Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks to plant native trees as part of ongoing restoration efforts at the new Somers Beach State Park. This year’s focus was on creating shade near park infrastructure, with next year’s efforts shifting toward broader wildlife habitat restoration across the site.

These improvements were made possible through matching funds from the Sliter family, Montana State Parks Foundation, Flathead Land Trust, Flathead Lakers, and other generous supporters. A big thank-you to everyone who came out to lend a hand – including Alison Young, Katie Lynch-Dombroski, Paul Saunders, Constanza von der Pahlen, and others!
