September 28 – Work Party to Maintain Trails at the Owen Sowerwine Natural Area

Join Flathead Audubon Society members for a morning of work at the Owen Sowerwine Natural Area on Saturday, September 28, from 9:00 to noon.

Audubon will be conducting maintenance on the new Accessible Trail, weed seed gathering, brushing, mowing and old deer stand removal. A group will also do 12 vegetative plot surveys to determine trends in vegetation growth.

This is an opportunity to spend a Saturday morning outdoors with bird enthusiasts and help with Flathead Audubon’s management of the Owen Sowerwine Natural Area.

Volunteers will meet at 9:00 a.m. at the Montessori School on Willow Glen Drive for a short orientation session, and then break out into small groups to work under team leaders.

Bring heavy work gloves, wear sturdy shoes, and dress for the weather – will work rain or shine.  Tools and other necessary equipment will be provided, but bring hand clippers and brush loppers if possible. Work will finish by noon. For information visit www.flatheadaudubon.org.
